1. What is a business industry code?

A business industry code is a series of numbers coded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code table for registration. A 4-digit industry code (level 4) is the code used for business registration.

2. Regulations on Industry Code 3700 for Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment

37001: Sewerage

This group includes:

– Operation of sewerage systems including drainage networks (pipelines, sewers, canals, ditches, regulating lakes, etc.), stormwater and wastewater pumping stations, wastewater treatment facilities, and other auxiliary works for the purpose of collecting, transporting, draining stormwater and wastewater, preventing flooding, and treating wastewater;

– Collection and transportation of wastewater from users, for example in urban areas, industrial parks, economic zones, export processing zones, high-tech zones, concentrated rural residential areas through sewerage systems.

– Maintenance and upkeep of sewerage systems, including sewer cleaning.

This group also includes:

– Emptying and cleaning of cesspools, septic tanks, sumps, wastewater holding tanks, etc.;

– Industrial cleaning services.

Exclusions:

– Construction or repair of sewerage systems is classified under group 42220 (Construction of water supply and sewerage works);

– Cleaning and unblocking of drainage pipes in buildings is classified under group 43221 (Installation of water supply, sewerage, heating, and air-conditioning systems);

– Rental of portable toilets with direct water supply is classified under group 77309 (Rental of other machinery, equipment, and tangible goods without operator, not elsewhere classified).

37002: Wastewater Treatment

This group includes:

– Operation of wastewater and sludge treatment facilities for reuse, e.g., agricultural wastewater, industrial wastewater, street washing water, rainwater… or for artificial replenishment of groundwater;

– Treatment of wastewater and sludge (including domestic wastewater and other wastewater) using wastewater and sludge treatment facilities, e.g., sludge drying during wastewater treatment…;

– Maintenance and upkeep of wastewater and sludge treatment facilities.

Exclusions:

– Treatment of sludge generated from wastewater treatment processes using treatment technologies such as composting or biological decomposition like aerobic composting, anaerobic digestion, incineration… with or without energy recovery is classified under group 38302 (Recycling of non-metal waste and scrap);

– Treatment of polluted surface water and groundwater is classified under group 39000 (Remediation activities and other waste management services).
