1. What is a business industry code?

Business industry code is a sequence of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing their business registration dossiers, must use this business industry code table for registration. Level 4 industry code (with 4 digits) is the industry code used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QĐ-TTg, has a hierarchical structure of 5 levels, from general to specific:

2. Regulations on Industry Code 2811 Manufacture of engines and turbines (except aircraft, automotive, motorcycle, and moped engines)

This group includes:

– Manufacture of internal combustion piston engines and similar parts, except for motorcycles, aircraft, and propulsion systems such as:

+ Hydraulic engines,

+ Railway engines.

– Manufacture of parts used exclusively or mainly for internal combustion engines such as: pistons, piston rings, carburetors and carburetors for all types of internal combustion engines, diesel engines, etc. (except aircraft, automotive, motorcycle, and moped engines);

– Manufacture of valves for internal combustion engines;

– Manufacture of turbines and parts thereof:

+ Steam turbines and other vapor turbines.

+ Hydro turbines, water wheels, regulators.

+ Wind turbines,

+ Gas turbines, except jet engines and propeller engines for aircraft propulsion,

– Manufacture of boiler-turbine sets;

– Manufacture of turbine-generator sets, including a turbine connected to an electric generator;

– Manufacture of industrial-use engines;

– Overhaul of marine engines in factories.

Excluded:

– Manufacture of electric generators (except turbine generators) is classified under group 2710 (Manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers, and electricity distribution and control apparatus);

– Manufacture of prime mover-generator sets (except turbine generators) is classified under group 2710 (Manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers, and electricity distribution and control apparatus);

– Manufacture of parts for internal combustion engines of vehicles is classified under group 29100 (Manufacture of motor vehicles and other motor vehicles);

– Manufacture of electrical equipment and components for internal combustion engines is classified under group 29300 (Manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and other motor vehicles);

– Manufacture of pistons, piston rings, carburetors, and similar equipment for internal combustion engines, diesel engines for motor vehicles is classified under group 29300 (Manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and other motor vehicles);

– Manufacture of aircraft piston engines is classified under group 30300 (Manufacture of aircraft, spacecraft, and related machinery);

– Manufacture of motorcycle engines is classified under group 30910 (Manufacture of motorcycles);

– Manufacture of aircraft engines, jet engines, and propeller engines is classified under group 30300 (Manufacture of aircraft, spacecraft, and related machinery).

3. Suggested way to record Industry Code 2811 Manufacture of engines and turbines (except aircraft, automotive, motorcycle, and moped engines)

– When registering for business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to a Business Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise selects a four-digit economic sector from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification system to record their business line in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration authority guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Enterprise Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines specified in other legal documents, the business line shall be recorded according to the provisions in those legal documents.
