1. What is a business industry code?

A business industry code is a sequence of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals must use this business industry code table when preparing their business registration dossiers. A 4-digit industry code (Level 4) is used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QD-TTg, has a hierarchical structure with 5 levels, from general to detailed:

2. Regulations on Industry Code 1811 Printing

This group includes:

– Printing of newspapers, magazines and other periodicals, books and brochures, music manuscripts, maps, atlases, posters, advertising catalogs, flyers and other advertising material, postage stamps, revenue stamps, documents, cheques and other paper securities, diaries, calendars, commercial forms and other commercial printed matter, personal stationery and other printed matter by letterpress, offset, rotogravure, lithography and other printing techniques, photocopies, computer printouts, embossing;

– Direct printing on textiles, plastics, metal, wood, and ceramics;

– Laser engraving on textiles;

– Printed products with copyright.

This group also includes:

– Printing of labels or tags (lithography, platemaking, rotary printing and other printing methods);

– Printing of signs, coasters, photos;

– Advertising printing activities.

Exclusions:

– Printing on textiles as an intermediate step in the manufacture of textiles is classified under group 13130 (Finishing of textile products);

– Manufacture of paper products such as book spines is classified under group 17090 (Manufacture of other articles of paper and paperboard n.e.c.);

– Publishing of printed materials is classified under group 581 (Publishing of books, newspapers, periodicals and other publishing activities);

– Engraving on metal, glass, wood, etc. is classified under the respective group based on the material used;

– Advertising design activities are classified under group 73100 (Advertising);

– Photocopying activities as a self-service are classified under group 82100 (Office administrative and support activities).

3. Suggestions for recording Industry Code 1811 Printing

– When registering for business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to a new Business Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise chooses a Level 4 economic activity in the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business line in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration authority guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Business Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines stipulated in other legal documents, the business line is recorded according to the regulations in those legal documents.
