1. What is a Business Industry Code?

Business industry codes are a series of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code list for registration. Level 4 industry codes (4 digits) are used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QD-TTg, has a hierarchical structure comprising 5 levels, from general to specific:

• Level 2: 10 (Manufacture of food products)
• Level 3: 107 (Manufacture of other food products)

2. Regulations on Industry Code 1030 for Processing and Preserving Fruits and Vegetables

10301: Manufacture of fruit and vegetable juices

This group includes:

– Manufacture of non-concentrated fruit and vegetable juices, unfermented and non-alcoholic;

– Manufacture of mixed fruit and vegetable juices.

10309: Other processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables

This group includes:

– Processing of food products primarily from fruits and vegetables, excluding ready-made chilled meals;

– Preserving fruits, vegetables, and nuts by freezing, drying, pickling in oil, etc.;

– Processing of fruit and vegetable foods;

– Processing of fruit and vegetable jams;

– Processing of purees, molded jams, and fruit jellies;

– Processing and preserving potatoes, such as: manufacturing frozen potatoes; manufacturing dried mashed potatoes; manufacturing potato fries; manufacturing potato chips; and manufacturing potato flour;

– Roasting of nuts;

– Processing of nut-based foods and purees.

This group also includes:

– Peeling of potatoes;

– Shelling of cashew nuts, shelling of peanuts;

– Production of bean sprouts;

– Processing of concentrated fresh fruit and vegetable products;

– Production of ready-to-eat perishable fruit and vegetable foods such as: salads, cut or peeled vegetables, frozen beans.

Excludes:

– Processing of flour or food from dried grains is classified under group 1061 (Milling of grain, production of starches and starch products);

– Preserving fruits and nuts in sugar is classified under group 10730 (Manufacture of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery);

– Manufacture of prepared vegetable meals is classified under group 10759 (Manufacture of other prepared meals and dishes);

– Manufacture of artificial concentrated foods is classified under group 10790 (Manufacture of other food products n.e.c.);

– Manufacture of fruit beverages is classified under group 1105 (Manufacture of non-alcoholic beverages; production of mineral waters).

3. Suggested way to record Industry Code 1010 for Processing and Preserving Meat and Meat Products

– When registering for business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to a Business Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise selects the Level 4 economic sector in the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business line in the business registration application. The business registration authority guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business line in the National Business Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines regulated by other legal documents, the business line shall be recorded according to the regulations in those legal documents.
