1. What is a prohibition sign?
Prohibition signs to indicate prohibitions. Traffic participants must comply with the prohibitions announced by the signs.
2. Meaning of using prohibited signs
Prohibited signs have codes P (prohibited) and DP (no longer prohibited) with the names as follows:
– License plate P.101: Prohibited road;
– License plate P.102: Prohibition of going in the opposite direction;
– License plate P.103a: No cars allowed;
– License plate P.103 (b,c): Cars are prohibited from turning left; Prohibit cars from turning right;
– License plate P.104: Prohibited motorbikes;
– License plate P.105: Prohibited cars and motorbikes;
– License plate P.106 (a,b): Prohibited trucks;
– License plate P.106c: Vehicles carrying dangerous goods are prohibited;
– License plate P.107: Passenger cars and trucks are prohibited;
– License plate P.107a: Passenger cars are prohibited;
– License plate P.107b: Taxi cars are prohibited;
– License plate P.108: Prohibition of vehicles pulling trailers;

3. Prohibition signs from time to time
When it is necessary to ban from time to time, the auxiliary sign number S.508 must be placed under the ban sign. Notes in Vietnamese and English subtitles can be written in this sign (if that area has many foreigners participating in traffic). or foreign route).

3. Signs banning many types of vehicles and objects
To signal a road where many types of vehicles are prohibited, subjects can combine prohibited symbols on one sign according to the following regulations:
– All types of motor vehicles combined on one sea;
– Other types of rudimentary vehicles or prohibited objects combined on one sign;
– Each sign can only combine at most two types of vehicles.
4. Size, shape and color of the prohibition sign
The size, shape and color of the sign are specified in detail in Article 16, Article 17 and Appendix B of National Technical Regulation QCVN 41:2019/BGTVT on Road Signs
5. Location of prohibition signs according to direction of travel and effective direction of the sign
– Prohibition signs are placed at intersections or in front of a location on the road that needs to be banned.
The sign is effective starting from the position where the sign is placed onwards. If for some reason, the sign is placed far away from the intended ban position, an additional sign number S.502 must be placed to clearly indicate the distance from behind the ban sign to the position where the sign begins to take effect.
– When necessary to clearly indicate the direction of effect of the sign and indicate the starting position or ending position of the sign’s effect, the auxiliary sign number S.503 “Direction of effect of the sign” must be placed.
– Prohibition signs from license plate number P.101 to license plate number P.120 do not need to specify the effective scope of the sign, there is no sign that the prohibition ends.
– When necessary, in case of ban due to blocked or damaged roads and bridges, along with the prohibition signs mentioned in Clause 30.3 of this Article, place signs indicating the path for prohibited vehicles.
– License plate P.121 and license plate P.128 are valid until the end of the prohibited distance written on auxiliary plate number S.501 or until the location of license plate DP.135 “All prohibitions end”.
– License plate P.123 (a,b) and license plate P.129 are valid in the area where the sign is located.
– License plate P.124 (a, b, c, d, e, f) is valid at intersections and openings.
