1. What is a business industry code?

Business industry code is a sequence of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code table to register. Level 4 industry codes (with 4 digits) are used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, promulgated under Decision 36/2025/QD-TTg, has a hierarchical structure comprising 5 levels, from general to specific:

• Level 1: C (Manufacturing)
• Level 2: 10 (Food processing and production)
• Level 3: 107 (Manufacture of other food products)

2. Regulations on Industry Code 2012 Manufacture of fertilizers and nitrogen compounds

This group includes:

– Manufacture of fertilizers such as:

+ Pure or mixed nitrogenous fertilizers, phosphatic or potassic fertilizers,

+ Urea, crude natural phosphates and crude natural potassium salts.

– Manufacture of nitrogen-containing products such as: Nitric acid and sulfo-nitric acid, ammonia, ammonium chloride, ammonium carbonate, potassium nitrate.

This group also includes:

– Manufacture of peat-based growing media;

– Manufacture of growing media from mixtures of natural soil, sand, kaolin and minerals;

– Manufacture of charcoal briquettes;

– Manufacture of husk charcoal, sintered charcoal;

– Manufacture of growth stimulants;

– Manufacture of chemical growth stimulants;

– Manufacture of soil improvers;

– Manufacture of other fertilizers by mixing or chemical treatment of animal or vegetable products.

Excludes:

– Mining of guano is classified under group 08910 (Mining of chemical and fertilizer minerals);

– Manufacture of agricultural chemical products, such as pesticides, is classified under group 20210 (Manufacture of pesticides and other agro-chemical products);

– Manufacture of liming materials is classified under group 20290 (Manufacture of other chemical products n.e.c.).

3. Suggestions for recording Industry Code 2012 Manufacture of basic chemicals

– When registering for enterprise establishment, when notifying changes to business lines or when requesting a change to a new Enterprise Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise selects a four-digit economic industry from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business line in the enterprise registration application. The business registration authority will guide, cross-reference, and record the enterprise’s business lines in the National Enterprise Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines stipulated in other legal normative documents, the business line shall be recorded according to the provisions in those legal normative documents.
