1. What is a Business Industry Code?

Business industry codes are a series of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing their business registration dossiers, must use this business industry code table for registration. Level 4 industry codes (with 4 digits) are used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QĐ-TTg, has a hierarchical structure with 5 levels, from general to detailed:

This group includes:

– Manufacture of gunpowder;

– Manufacture of fireworks, explosives, including detonators, signal flares, etc.;

– Manufacture of gelatin and gelatin derivatives;

– Manufacture of glues and prepared adhesives, including rubber glues;

– Manufacture of extracts of natural aromatic products;

– Manufacture of plastic-like substances;

– Manufacture of distilled aromatic water (essential oils);

– Manufacture of mixed aromatic products for perfumes or food;

– Manufacture of e-liquid (essential oil) for e-cigarettes;

– Manufacture of photographic film, paper, and other photosensitive materials;

– Manufacture of chemicals for photography;

– Manufacture of other chemical products such as:

+ Peptones, derivatives of peptones, other protein substances and their derivatives,

+ Essential oils,

+ Oils or fats chemically modified,

+ Finishing agents for textiles and leather.

– Manufacture of distilled water classified under group 20113 (Manufacture of other basic inorganic chemicals);

– Manufacture of synthetic aromatic products classified under group 2011 (Manufacture of basic chemicals);

– Manufacture of printing ink classified under group 2022 (Manufacture of paints, varnishes and similar coatings; manufacture of printing ink and mastic);

– Manufacture of perfumes and toiletries classified under group 2023 (Manufacture of perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, detergents, polishing and cleaning preparations);

– Manufacture of bituminous mixtures classified under group 23990 (Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products not elsewhere classified).

3. Suggested ways to record Industry Code 2029: Manufacture of other chemical products not elsewhere classified

– When registering a business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to a Business Registration Certificate, the business founder or enterprise selects a Level 4 economic industry code from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business line in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration authority guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Business Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines specified in other legal normative documents, the business line shall be recorded according to the provisions in those legal normative documents.
