1. What is a business industry code?

A business industry code is a series of numbers coded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code list for registration. A 4-digit industry code (level 4) is the code used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QD-TTg, has a hierarchical structure with 5 levels, from general to specific:

2. Regulations on Industry Code 1050 Processing of milk and dairy products

This group includes:

– Processing of liquid fresh milk, pasteurized milk, sterilized milk, homogenized and/or heat-treated milk;

– Processing of milk-based beverages;

– Production of cream from fresh milk, pasteurized, sterilized, homogenized milk;

– Production of dried or condensed milk, sweetened or unsweetened;

– Production of solid milk or cream;

– Production of butter;

– Production of yogurt;

– Production of cheese or curd;

– Refining and aging of cheese;

– Production of liquid whey (the liquid remaining after yogurt has curdled);

– Production of casein or lactose;

– Production of ice cream and other edible ice products such as fruit ice cream.

– Production of skimmed milk and butter products is classified under group 10790 (Manufacture of other food products n.e.c.);

– Production of nutritional milk drinks is classified under group 10790 (Manufacture of other food products n.e.c.);

– Production of infant formula is classified under group 10790 (Manufacture of other food products n.e.c.);

– Production of fruit kefir and water kefir is classified under group 11020 (Manufacture of wine);

– Operation of ice cream parlors is classified under group 5610 (Restaurants and mobile food service activities).

3. Suggested ways to record Industry Code 1050 Processing of milk and dairy products

– When registering a business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to a Business Registration Certificate, the business founder or enterprise selects a four-digit economic industry code from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification System to record the business lines in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration authority will guide, cross-reference, and record the enterprise’s business lines in the National Business Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines stipulated in other legal normative documents, the business line shall be recorded according to the regulations in those legal normative documents.
