1. What is a business industry code?

A business industry code is a sequence of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code table for registration. The 4-digit industry code (Level 4) is the code used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision No. 36/2025/QD-TTg, has a hierarchical structure with 5 levels, from general to specific:

• Level 1: C (Manufacturing)
• Level 2: 10 (Food processing and production)
• Level 3: 107 (Manufacture of other food products)
• Level 4: 1075 (Manufacture of prepared meals and dishes)
• Level 5: 10751 (Manufacture of prepared meat meals and dishes)

2. Regulations on Industry Code 1010 Processing and preservation of meat and meat products

This group includes: Activities of processing and preserving meat and meat products.

Excludes:

– Production of frozen ready meals from animal meat and poultry is classified under group 10751 (Manufacture of prepared meat meals and dishes);

– Production of soups containing meat is classified under group 10790 (Manufacture of other food products n.e.c.);

– Wholesale of meat is classified under group 463 (Wholesale of food, beverages, and tobacco products);

– Packaging of meat is classified under group 82920 (Packaging services).

10101: Slaughtering of livestock and poultry

This group includes: Slaughtering activities including slaughter, dressing, packing, and preserving meat from: buffalo, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits, poultry, camels, etc.

This group also includes: Slaughtering whales on land or on specialized vessels.

10102: Processing and preservation of meat

– Production of fresh, chilled or frozen meat, whole carcasses;

– Production of fresh, chilled or frozen meat, in cuts;

– Production of fresh, chilled or frozen meat, in separate portions;

– Whale processing activities on land or on specialized vessels;

– Production of raw hides and skins and furs originating from slaughtering activities, including from fur traders;

– Processing of animal fat;

– Processing of animal offal;

– Production of feathers.

10109: Processing and preservation of meat products

This group includes:

– Production of dried, smoked, or salted meat;

– Production of meat products including: sausages, pâtés, hams.

3. Suggested ways to record Industry Code 1010 Processing and preservation of meat and meat products

– When registering for enterprise establishment, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change of enterprise registration certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise selects the four-digit economic industry code from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business line in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration agency guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Business Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines stipulated in other legal documents, the business line is recorded according to the regulations in those legal documents.
