1. What is a Business Industry Code?

Business industry codes are a series of numbers encoded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code table for registration. The 4-digit (level 4) industry code is the code used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC) system, issued under Decision 36/2025/QĐ-TTg, has a hierarchical structure comprising 5 levels, from general to detailed:

• Level 1: C (Manufacturing Industry)
• Level 2: 10 (Food Processing and Production)
• Level 3: 107 (Manufacture of other food products)
• Level 4: 1075 (Manufacture of prepared meals and dishes)
• Level 5: 10751 (Manufacture of prepared meals and dishes from meat)

2. Regulations on Industry Code 0311 Marine Fishing and Aquaculture

This group includes:

– Fishing;

– Catching crustaceans and mollusks in the sea;

– Whaling;

– Catching other marine animals such as: turtles, sea urchins, etc.

– Gathering marine organisms used as raw materials such as: natural pearls, sea sponges, coral, and algae;

– Exploiting natural marine aquatic breeds;

– Activities of preserving and pre-processing aquatic products directly on fishing vessels.

Excluded:

– Catching marine mammals (except whales) such as hippos, seals, which are classified under group 01700 (Hunting, trapping and related service activities);

– Activities of exploiting swallows in caves, building swallow houses, which are classified under group 01700 (Hunting, trapping and related service activities);

– Processing and preserving aquatic products on vessels or processing plants, which are classified under group 1020 (Processing and preservation of fish, crustaceans and mollusks);

– Leasing of sea-going cargo vessels with operator (such as fish or shrimp carriers) is classified under group 50121 (Coastal freight transport);

– Activities of inspection, control, and protection of fishing fleets at sea, which are classified under group 84230 (Public order and safety activities);

– Service activities related to sport fishing or recreational fishing, which are classified under group 93190 (Other sports activities);

– Netting and net repair, which are classified under group 13940 (Manufacture of cordage, rope, twine and netting);

– Repair of fishing vessels and boats, which are classified under group 33150 (Repair and maintenance of other transport equipment (excluding motor vehicles, motorcycles, and other motorized vehicles)).

3. Suggested ways to record Industry Code 0311 Marine Fishing and Aquaculture

When registering the establishment of a business, when notifying changes to business lines, or when requesting a change to the Enterprise Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or the enterprise selects the four-digit economic sector from the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification System to record the business lines in the enterprise registration application. The business registration authority guides, cross-references, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Enterprise Registration Database.

For conditional business lines stipulated in other legal documents, the business lines shall be recorded according to the provisions of those legal documents.
