1. What is a business industry code?

Business industry codes are a series of numbers coded to represent a specific business industry. Organizations and individuals, when preparing business registration documents, must use this business industry code table for registration. Level 4 industry codes (with 4 digits) are the codes used for business registration.

The Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC), issued under Decision 36/2025/QĐ-TTg, has a hierarchical structure with 5 levels, from general to detailed:

2. Regulations on Industry Code 0163 Post-harvest service activities

This group includes: This group includes post-harvest service activities on a fee or contract basis.

– Preparation stages before selling products, such as: cleaning, trimming, grading, preliminary processing, disinfection, drying, etc.;

– Cotton ginning;

– Preliminary processing of tobacco leaves, e.g.: sun-drying, etc.;

– Preliminary processing of cocoa beans, e.g.: shelling, etc.;

– Waxing fruit;

– Drying fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, medicinal plants, and tobacco under natural conditions;

– Grading, cleaning, and cutting medicinal plants;

– Grain drying;

– Retting to separate fibers from fiber plants (jute, flax, coir, etc.) not related to the cultivation of fiber crops;

– Artificial ripening of fruit as a service, e.g.: quick ripening of bananas, etc.

Exclusions:

– Production preparation by agricultural producers, these activities are classified under group 011 (Growing of annual crops), group 012 (Growing of perennial crops) or 013 (Propagation and care of agricultural seedlings);

– Preservation of vegetables and fruits, including dehydration by artificial methods, is classified under group 1030 (Processing and preservation of fruit and vegetables);

– Post-harvest activities aimed at improving the propagating quality of seeds are classified under group 01640 (Seed treatment for propagation);

– Tobacco rolling and drying are classified under group 1200 (Manufacture of tobacco products);

– Marketing activities by traders and cooperatives are classified under group 461 (Wholesale on a fee or contract basis);

– Wholesale of unprocessed agricultural products is classified under group 462 (Wholesale of agricultural raw materials (except wood, bamboo, rattan) and live animals);

– Plant nurseries are classified under group 011 (Growing of annual crops) and group 012 (Growing of perennial crops);

– Processing of oil seeds for oil production is classified under group 1040 (Manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats);

– Research for the development or improvement of new seed varieties is classified under group 721 (Research and experimental development in natural sciences and engineering).

3. Suggested way to record Industry Code 0163 Post-harvest service activities

– When registering for business establishment, when notifying changes to business lines or when requesting a change to the Enterprise Registration Certificate, the enterprise founder or enterprise selects the level four economic sector in the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification to record the business lines in the enterprise registration dossier. The business registration agency guides, cross-checks, and records the enterprise’s business lines in the National Enterprise Registration Database.

– For conditional business lines specified in other legal documents, the business line must be recorded according to the regulations in those legal documents.
